This may sound crazy to you! It sounded crazy to me when Chet Gallagher cornered me at an abortion mill in Atlanta , Georgia , on the last day of our National Event last year. "Flip," he said, "I just want you to think and pray about these two letters for our National Event next year - L and V." I had absolutely no idea what he was talking about and told him so. He said, "Las Vegas! Would you consider coming to Las Vegas for OSA's National Event next year in 2009?" That thought had never crossed my mind. Why Vegas? Chet's response, "Because Las Vegas needs Jesus in its streets." I was to find out later, through the hard labors and research efforts of one Shelley Clegg, that the city of Las Vegas has ten abortion mills. I was shocked! Atlanta has ten abortion mills and its population is ten times that of Las Vegas . I realized that in the "plastic and pretend world" of Las Vegas , sin and its horrific consequences are always being covered up. I recalled that slick cliché, "What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas."
This lie cries out to the heavens. The blood of innocent children is shed as sin abounds. There are no clocks in the Vegas casinos nor are there any windows so that one loses all concept of time - all concept of reality. Why? Because the devil is seeking to rob, kill, and destroy. The Bible tells us that our sin will find us out, no matter how hard men try to cover it. We have a Word from God, "What happens in Vegas gets exposed in Vegas."
As most of you know, Chet was a former Las Vegas Motorcycle Police Officer. It was twenty years ago that he, while in uniform and on duty was arrested and jailed for refusing to abandon 92 rescuers because he was compelled to stand alongside and support them. These peaceful, pro-life Christians were sitting prayerfully and blocking access to a local Las Vegas abortion mill. When ordered to leave Chet told his supervisors that, "As an on duty police officer I simply cannot walk away from what I know to be a murder in progress.” He had been a career police officer for 20 years and was just three months from being “vested” (tenured) for his police retirement after serving nearly 10 years on the force. Consequently, he was subsequently fired for trying to dissuade his fellow officers from arresting the Christians that Jesus had sent on that day to "protect and serve" the innocent victims of abortion. Chet has traveled across our nation several times, being a voice for the voiceless children. Now he is asking for our help to bring the theology of the church house out onto the streets of Las Vegas. This event will serve as a prototype for other cities to engage in the Gospel battle.
Prior to the National Event this summer there will be pro-life rallies, displays, training for activists and sidewalk counselors; plans for initiating abortion malpractice suits; and most importantly, OSA will recruit an army of praying, pro-life Christians outside of every local child killing center, offering emergency help to endangered mothers and their children being led to slaughter.
Additionally, our OSA chapter will set in motion the plans for Nevada 's Constitutional "Personhood Amendment" ballot initiative. This proposed initiative is key to protecting every innocent, unborn Nevadan from the federal tyranny of President Obama's administration and his promise to abolish every piece of pro-life legislation when he signs the Freedom of Choice Act, (FOCA). www.PERSONHOODUSA.com
Greetings in Jesus Name! Here's a new paraphrase of Eph 5:11: "What happens in Vegas GETS EXPOSED in Vegas!"
After a successful leadership meeting in New Orleans last weekend things are moving ahead rapidly for OSA's annual event and there are some things we want you to be aware of early on.
EVENT INFORMATION: Yes it is Wednesday to Wednesday this year. The reason is - the folks traveling by air who make early-bird flight reservations can save up to $150 per ticket per person by arriving Wed. instead of Saturday or Sunday. Again, you'll save a bundle if you act quickly. Please consider your local newspaper classified ads or Travel Section for DISCOUNTED TICKETS to Las Vegas . Specials for large markets like Vegas are sometimes better in the newspaper than online! Those deals are out there, just confirm they are legitimate and accepted by the airlines. If you get a good lead on discount tickets please "reply to all" on this e-mail with the details and we'll post it on the website for others. If you do fly, consider using the money you'll save on an early bird airfare reservation to rent a car. We will provide airport pick-up, of course, but your rental car can help us with transportation throughout the city. Plus, I guarantee you that there is so much to see in Southern Nevada/Utah/California you may want to have your own transportation to do so.
A missionary sponsorship letter is being drafted to be signed by Flip and provided to you to send to friends, family, pastors and pro-life business people, etc. This allows them the opportunity to contribute funds toward this short term mission trip to save moms and babies and to evangelize in Sin City . Contact Brenda (orn@bigplanet.com) if you are considering raising support for this week long mission. For those of you who can afford this, please consider the possibility of sending this letter to your contacts to help fund some of our larger families. If you simply cannot come (and we hope you'll make every effort to do so) you can always sponsor someone else and watch God bless your generosity. Write a check today to OSA and note in the memo "Missions support." If there is a special pro-lifer or family you want to help, enclose a letter stating who they are.
Consider NOT coming alone. Bring another couple or family with you. Make it the summer vacation trip of a lifetime.
Last of all...Please check the OSA website weekly for updates (www.OperationSaveAmerica.com) E-mail Miss Pat pmcewen@cfl.rr.com) if you are: 1. Definitely coming Driving or flying - if flying, are you renting a car or need pickup? Hotel or other? 2. Planning to come and will confirm on: (date) 3. Only praying at this time 4. Not coming but will be sponsoring someone 5. Sorry, no, I'm unable to participate this summer in any way
Chet Gallagher OSA-Las Vegas Important PS!!! PLEASE do forward this invitation to anyone! Who can say how many hearts your invitation to participate will touch? Even casual friends who haven't been in the trenches before may be enticed to join us in this amazing, short-term-missions event.

Pastor Walter Hoye Stands for His King! « Result #8 on Feb 28, 2009, 9:16am »
Pastor Walter Hoye Stands for His King! Bud Reeves with foreword by Rev. Flip Benham • 2/26/2009 HUMBLE PASTOR AND SIDEWALK COUNSELOR SENTENCED TO JAIL CHRISTIAN SUPPORTERS JAM COURTHOUSE AND STAND IN SOLIDARITY WITH PASTOR WALTER HOYE II
Feb 19, 2009, Oakland, Ca. Pro-life Christians from No. California, including 15 Sohlnet sidewalk counselors and prolife activists from the Sacramento area packed out the courtroom and the hallway where Pastor Walter Hoye III was sentenced to jail for quietly standing outside an Oakland abortion “clinic” offering help to abortion minded women and men. Hoye had earlier been found guilty of violating an Oakland ordinance that had been crafted by pro-abortion advocates to keep Hoye away from the clinic.
In anticipation of the sentencing the prolife community, including three prominent out of state African American pastors, gathered in Oakland for two prayer and strategy meetings in the week preceding the trial. Sohlnet’s Bud Reeves and John Ficker were invited to, and attended, these meetings based on our long time prolife ministry, experience and our close relationship with Pastor Hoye. On the day of the trial, Bud and John drove two van loads of concerned Christians to Oakland to stand in solidarity with Walter. We arrived in Oakland for an 11 A.M. prayer meeting and at 12 P.M. we proceeded to the courthouse. After passing though security the African American Pastors led us in singing spirituals as we proceeded to the fifth floor. Soon there after about 150 supporters, Christians from across the denominational spectrum were squeezed into the hallway (shown at right). Only 30 Christians were allowed in as well as 30 supporters of abortion who chanted pro-choice slogans in an attempt to interrupt the prayers and hymns of the Christians.
When Walter, his legal team from Life Legal Defense Fund (LLDF) and the Black pastors exited the courtroom we learned that the judge had sentenced Walter to 30 days in jail, fined him more than eleven hundred dollars, placed him on 3 years probation and given him a stay away order at the clinic. When Walter refused the offer of the judge to take his jail sentence on weekends, the judge seemed taken aback, releasedWalter with no restrictions and set a return to court date of March 20th. We all exited singing “We Shall Overcome.” We all then marched to the City Hall where a rally for Walter was held. It was glorious.
AS PERSECUTION FOR RIGHTEOUS SPEECH AND BEHAVIOR INCREASES IN AMERICA, IT IS TIME FOR GODLY AND COURAGEOUS PASTORS TO LEAD
From Bud’s Desk: A good friend of mine and fellow activist prolife Christian, Rev. Walter Hoye II just this past Thursday made his theology biography when he courageously faced a jail sentence after being framed and found guilty of crimes he did not commit.: Before sentencing Walter recalls his thoughts and emotions: “To fully appreciate how much this moment impacted me, you have to understand that during the thirteen (13) days of my trial I sat in the defendant’s chair listening to false accusations, the vilification of my character and arguments on why my freedom should be taken away from me. Today, however, is different. Today, the courtroom and the hallways are packed with the saints of God standing with my wife (Lori) and I. Today, God’s own from around the world are praying for Lori and I, as we stand ready to receive Judge Hing’s decision. Today I have three (3) African-American Pastors (my brothers) standing up and speaking up for me and as they spoke I felt Heaven’s strength rising in my heart. Today is different, because after each of my brothers stood up and spoke up on my behalf, it will finally be my turn to speak.
Judge Hing: “Do you have anything to say before I pronounce sentence?” “The words of Judge Hing pierce my heart as I realize I am moments away from his decision. (Below I have provided some of Walter’s quotes as space does not allow for all of them) “This is what I said: Your Honor, I believe an unjust law is no law at all. I believe the law that I have been convicted of is an unjust law.
It is my intention to continue my efforts to save the life of the unborn child by reaching out to the men and women going into the abortion clinic with the love of Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior. … (Judge Hing then sentenced Rev. Hoye to 30 days in jail with fines and probation but then offered to allow Walter to serve his jail sentence by community service on weekends. Walter declined this offer and was willing to go immediately to jail, a procedure that ordinarily would follow his refusal of the weekend deal.) Again, Judge Hing asks me to accept his terms of probation. And again, I refuse to agree to give up my constitutionally guaranteed free speech rights.”
Walter then quoted Dr. Martin Luther King in justifying his refusal to obey an unjust law and the moral responsibility to disobey an unjust law. At this point the Judge should have ordered his bailiffs to place Walter in handcuffs and transport him to jail. Inexplicitly, he did not and Walter was free and ordered back to court on March 20th.
BOLDNESS MEANS WELCOMING ANY SUFFERING THAT COMES FROM DOING WHAT IS RIGHT, BECAUSE IT WILL PRODUCE A GREATER POWER OF LOVE “The righteous are bold as a lion” (Proverbs 28:1).
May God grant me, our pastors, priests, Christian leaders, and all of us, the courage and boldness that our God has called us to and which Walter has demonstrated. Then, with the Apostles who were threatened with imprisonment and death, we will pray together: “Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness.” (Acts 4:29)
Thanks for your prayers and financial support. Even though our monthly donations are coming down, our faith is in His provision and our spirits are high. God is good all the time. Your financial contributions are tax deductible as allowed by law.

Marriage amendment debate « Result #9 on Feb 18, 2009, 8:29am »

County commissioners voted unanimously Monday to support legislation seeking a statewide vote on a constitutional amendment declaring marriage between a man and woman the only legally recognized union. Commissioners stayed away from the debate over homosexuality that fueled some of the debate among those attending the meeting and picketing outside.
Instead, commissioners said the citizens of North Carolina have a right to vote on amending the State Constitution just as as voters in 30 other states have done thus far.
The controversial topic initially had been part of the commissioners' consent agenda — items typically approved without discussion. With abundant interest in debating the matter clear, Chairman Carl Ford apologized for putting it on the consent agenda, calling it a rookie mistake.
But commissioners moved the resolution from the consent agenda at the outset of the meeting and discussed it following nearly and hour of public debate.
More than a hundred people jammed into the meeting room and an adjacent overflow area. Outside the County Administrative Office Building, supporters carried large signs. Some exchanged quotes of Biblical verses with those opposing the resolution.
On the inside, speakers were almost equally divided among those urging the county to avoid getting involved and those attacking homosexuality.
Adam Tennant, of Kannapolis, equated homosexuality with a rotting corpse, calling it "a sin against almighty God."
Garland Faw was among several speakers from Kannapolis supporting the resolution. Faw, the longtime pastor of Truth Temple Baptist Church, said same-sex marriage is "the prime agenda of the homosexual movement."

Ante Parkovic, of Davidson, drew loud applause criticizing other speakers for comparing the struggle of homosexuals to gain civil rights with those of women and blacks. "These are wolves in sheep's clothing É (let's) not call evil good É don't listen to it."
Others called on commissioners to take no action on the resolution.
Rob Goins, of Salisbury, said the civil rights of a minority should never be decided by a majority vote.
Retired minister Robert Freeman, also of Salisbury, called the resolution unnecessary. He said the state already defines marriage as the union of man and a woman. He added that homosexuals are being vilified and discriminated against.
"This is an inappropriate topic for county commissioners," Lina Drinkard, of Salisbury, told the board. She added the board is "dividing the citizens of Rowan County. This is not good leadership."
"This is not the thing to do," William "Bill" Stanback said. "We elected you to run Rowan County. É This is not within your appointed duties."
Stanback pointed out that if integration had been put to a vote in the 1960s, it would never have passed.
He talked about his daughter, a lesbian who has a divinity degree and married her companion of 25 years on Valentine's Day.
Stanback expressed his pride in his daughter and told commissioners the resolution will incite and divide the community.
One by one, commissioners said the resolution is about giving citizens a chance to vote.
Ford noted the bill has never been able to get out of a committee in the General Assembly.
Commissioner Raymond Coltrain said it is his sworn duty as a commissioner to give the public a right to vote.
Vice Chairman Jon Barber and Commissioner Tina Hall sounded similar themes.
Commissioner Chad Mitchell said ultimately, it's likely the U.S. Supreme Court will decide the issue.
"It's not a religious issue, it's public policy," he said. "Not state or local, it's a national issue."
Mitchell added the push by states to adopt constitutional amendments defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman may speed up a Supreme Court ruling.
Commissioners approved a two-page resolution calling on the General Assembly to approve legislation setting a statewide referendum.
State Sens. James Forrester and Jim Jacumin are seeking endorsements from county boards across the state and plan to file a "Defense of Marriage" bill in the General Assembly later this month.
